The Momokai team and the store will take an eight day temporary hiatus on December 2nd, 2024 to December 11th, 2024 but our holiday sales event will start earlier and last till the end of the holiday season!

 

Temporary Store Hiatus

What is happening?

From December 2 to December 11, the Momokai store will take a temporary hiatus.

All orders placed before December 2nd will be processed for shipping before the 2nd and all orders placed between the 2nd-11th will be processed for shipping on the 12th regardless of the shipping speed selected at checkout!

If you are purchasing for the holidays, please complete your purchases as soon as possible prior to December 2. If you make a purchase during the 2nd-11th, it will be sent out on the 12th. If you are in the U.S., your order will still arrive prior to the 24th of December. Non U.S. orders (including Canada), will NOT be guaranteed to arrive before the 24th if the selected shipping method is USPS First Class International. Please use DHL Worldwide Express at checkout if you want it to arrive before the 24th.

The delivery estimate at checkout during the hiatus is not accurate. If you purchased an expedited shipping method, it will still be shipped with the same shipping method, but it will ship out on the 12th.

Can I request a refund/cancellation during the hiatus period?

Yes! At any point in time if you change your mind or the delivery time frame is not acceptable, please send us a message and we will fully refund your order. Just keep in mind that some items are low in stock and might sell out during the holidays.

Will customer support tickets and service requests still be processed?

Yes! We will still reply to customer service emails and warranty requests during the hiatus. Just send us a message on the contact us page!

Why is Momokai taking a hiatus?

The Momokai team is actually just two passionate engineers/designers/coders making keypads as a side project from our full time jobs. We handle all our daily operations, customer service, and R&D in our home offices. During the R&D process, we contract out manufacturing to our partner in Asia. So we have to take a trip across the sea to work with them for a little bit on manufacturing processes, quality control, and test samples. While we are there, we have to put our daily operations on hold.

The mechanical keyboards/keypads scene is a very small and micro niche in the grand electronics market. While there are big companies in this space, there are many more small vendors/designers/builders like us that need the occasional hiatus to give us time for R&D, especially if we are not operating on a groupbuy model. We are very lucky to be able to continue to survive in this space because of our lean finances and supplemental incomes from non-keyboard related work.

We also have to take this trip during the busy holiday season because both our work/personal schedules lined up during this short period. So we really appreciate your time and understanding while we continue to work on new products.

Donald Trump's Proposed Import Tariffs

We believe Donald Trump's proposed import tariffs will have a significant impact on the future of our store and products, especially low cost electronics like keyboards. We ran some calculations and it is likely that all products on our store will go up in price by 45-55%. We do not believe we can move our manufacturing to the US because the processing units and electronic components used on our devices are still manufactured in Asia and subjected to the same import tariffs. Under the new tariffs, we are certain that almost all keyboard vendors will take significant hit on already thin margins.
